Urinary Incontinence: 3 things to help you stop peeing in your pants.

Have you ever coughed or sneezed and said, “I peed a little?” How many friends do you have that share their stories of peeing while laughing, sneezing, or exercising? We are talking about urinary incontinence.

Let’s get into the biology. Our bladders, vaginas, and urethras work in tandem and are rich in estrogen receptors. When estrogen levels drop, as they do during menopause, all three organs are weakened. The vagina is no longer strong enough to support the bladder, and so, it leaks.

Luckily there are solutions. No need to suffer. Here’s three things you can do right now to stop peeing in your pants. 1. Kegels. You can do kegels anywhere at anytime. The pelvic floor muscle is a muscle. It needs strengthening like all of your other muscles. Learn to Kegel and do it. Check out a simple exercise here! 2. See a pelvic floor physical therapist. They do an amazing job getting things working again so you don’t have to wear a big old diaper. Not fun. 3. Topical estrogen. This has been proven to help some women with incontinence.
